Principal Message

I want to give a shoutout and say a big THANK YOU to our parents and carers for their incredible support of our school. Seriously, you rock!

We're incredibly lucky to have parents/carers like you who jump in, lend a hand, and keep the communication lines open with our staff. Your involvement doesn't just benefit your own kids, it makes a positive impact on the entire student body.

We see your dedication in action. Whether it's picking up the phone for a yarn, helping out at fundraisers, running breakfast club, or cheering on our students at events, your presence and effort make a real difference. It's this teamwork and community spirit that make our school awesome.

Thanks also for the support you provide at home. Your commitment to education and the way you reinforce our school values outside of school is amazing. Your encouragement, guidance, and partnership truly help our students grow and succeed.

As we navigate the ups and downs of our school days, we can't thank you enough for having our backs. Your collaboration allows us to create a positive and inspiring environment where every student can thrive and be their best.

So once again, a HUGE thank you for being incredible. We feel lucky to have you as part of our school community. Together, we'll keep making great things happen.

Parent Teacher Interviews

You are invited to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss your child’s progress.

Parent-teacher interviews for the following classes will be held on Wednesday 7th June 2023.

KM – Mrs Martin

K/1B - Miss Bailey

1T - Miss Thompson

2R - Miss Rebecca

3/4A – Miss A

3/4H - Mr Henderson

4/5B – Mr Bryant

5/6T - Miss Tjarnah

These interviews are an opportunity to discuss your child’s progress so far this year. Appointments are available between 3:10pm and 6:00pm. These interviews are strictly for 10 minutes in duration. If you require a longer interview to discuss more specific concerns about your child’s progress, please contact your child’s teacher for an alternate interview time.

To book your interview, please go to your Sentral Parent Portal (https:// plattsburgps.sentral.com.au/portal/login). For families new to the school, a letter explaining access to the Sentral Portal will also be sent home. If you have misplaced your Parent Portal access key or require assistance please contact the school. Bookings for these interviews close on Monday 5 June 2023 at 9:00pm.

School Values Day

Plattsburg will be participating in the second Values Gala Day for 2023. Students will participate in a round robin tabloid of games where students will be teamed up with students from across all the stages.

School community you are more than welcome to attend and watch the fun and games. Get in the spirit and wear yellow.

Plattsburg's Biggest Morning Tea

Everyone is invited to our Biggest Morning Tea on Thursday 8th June.

We will have a delicious array of cakes and slices, which you can pair with a cuppa for $5 to help us raise money for the Cancer Council.

We will be running a raffle with some amazing Body Shop hampers as prizes. Students are asked to wear YELLOW on the day and there will be some in class challenges to raise more money for this cause.

Parents/carers and friends are welcome to stay and join us for our School Values Gala Day from 11:30am.

Four Ways to Succeed

Merit Awards are aligned to the Four Ways to Succeed: RESPECT, EMPATHY INDEPENDENCE & CONNECTING. The language and values of the Keys are reinforced by teaching staff in their daily interactions with students and by rewarding students for presenting or demonstrating the values, behaviours and attitudes. Students are able to collect a total of 12 class awards in all. When a student receives three class awards, they hand them into the office where it is recorded. Students are then presented with the Merit award at the next assembly

ATTENDANCE- Not turning up makes easy things hard and hard things harder.

What's Been Happening at Plattsy

Let's Love Water!

Kindy to Year 2 had a blast at the Let's Love Water show. We welcomed Eddy and Aquabot to Plattsy with an interactive show about how saving water is important. The students could be heard laughing from outside!

Sports News

Crossroads Zone Football

A couple of months ago, Aaliyah trialled to get into the Crossroads zone soccer team. She succeeded in being picked, and on Thursday, she represented Crossroads zone against other zones from the Hunter Valley. The girls ranged from ages 10 to 12, and a great deal of talent was on show. Crossroads played 3 games, winning 2 of them convincingly. Aaliyah played in the midfield for all three games and ran herself into the ground and needs to be very proud of her efforts. She is already looking forward to trying out again next year and using the experience from this year to push for further representation.
