Student Success:
Congratulations to our Whip It and Whirlwind Aerobics teams who competed in Sydney for their first competition this year. Both teams did an amazing job and are looking ready for State! It was great to see our students engage in Harmony Day recently. It is valuable learning that all people belong in our school. Our first whole school assembly was held last week with the student executive doing a wonderful job to run the event. It was wonderful to see the way our students displayed outstanding manners during the assembly.
High Potential &Gifted Education:
We run many programs across our school to support our students who are gifted or show high potential. Some that we have been running this term include our Bay Brilliant Brains writing competition, opportunities for students to attend the Creative Arts Camp, maths programs for talented mathematicians, our leadership programs – SRC, Wonai Leadership, Student Executive, Sports Captains, House Captains. We also have students who are being accelerated into higher year classes for certain subjects. If your child is identified as having high potential, they will be offered opportunities to support their growth.
Disco:
Thank you to the parents and staff who came along to make the P&C disco a success last week! It was a great night.
Mini Fete:
Our Year 6 mini fete is being held this Friday. This event is the major fundraiser for Year 6 and is only for students.
New Syllabus documents:
Our teaching staff have been taking part in Collaboration Days over the past two weeks to engage with the new syllabus documents. This year, we will be learning about the new HSIE and Creative Arts syllabuses and next year we will be engaging with the new science and PD/ Health/ PE syllabuses ready for implementation in 2027.
Anzac Service:
Our student executive will be travelling into the Civic Theatre tomorrow with Ms Patrick for the Combined Schools Anzac Service. This event is always a special event on our calendar and is coordinated by high school students in our area.
Transporting Students:
A reminder that if you are transporting students to a school event, parents need to have a volunteer’s Working with Children’s Check available through Service NSW (the free version), a valid drivers licence, registration and insurance documents on file in our school office before the day of the event.
Easter Hat Parade:
Our Easter Hat Parade will be held next on the last day of term, Friday 11th April at 1:30pm. All parents are welcome to attend. Don’t forget to buy tickets in the P&C Easter raffle.
Holidays:
The last day of Term 1 will be Friday 11th April. Students will return to school on WEDNESDAY 30th April. Please note students will not be at school on Monday or Tuesday as these days are Staff Development Days. I hope you have a safe and relaxing holiday.
