From the Principal

Welcome back

I would like to extend a very warm welcome back to school for Term 3. Teachers have returned to work today and engaged in a very productive School Development Day, with opportunities for professional learning as well as planning for the term ahead. Term 3 is always a busy term, with some exciting whole school events planned, including Education Week, Book Week, Athletics Carnival and our Father's Day Stall and breakfast. Keep an eye out in this newsletter and throughout the term for notes and alerts so that you are up to date with what's going on at school, as well as for opportunities for community involvement. We very much value opening the school gates and inviting parents, carers and community members to be involved in school life. Please take the chance when you can to come along.

Attendance

Congratulations to the school community for your effort in maintaining excellent attendance in the last weeks of Term 2. Our whole school attendance rate for Term 2 was 91.5% compared to 87.3% for the state and 90.4% for similar schools. As a community, prioritising strong attendance will continue to support improved outcomes for our students.

External Validation

During the last week of Term 2, our school participated in the Department of Education’s external validation process, which is based on the School Excellence Framework. This process gave us the opportunity to reflect on our practices and progress as a learning community. The validation panel acknowledged our strengths and provided valuable feedback, helping us identify future directions to support school improvement as we move into our new four-year school plan. We are proud of our achievements and thankful for the ongoing support from staff, students, and families. I will share further details about the external validation process and outcomes at our next P&C meeting. We look forward to continuing our journey together, working towards even greater success for all.

Excellence in Teaching

I'm delighted announce to the school community that Mrs Anastasia Tadros has successfully achieved Highly Accomplished Teacher (HALT) accreditation in NSW, along with national certification as a HALT.

HALT accreditation recognises teachers who demonstrate outstanding practice. It encourages collaborative teaching, ongoing reflection and continuous improvement—both personally and as part of a team.

Mrs Tadros is to be commended on this milestone. We are so lucky to have her at our school. Each day she goes above and beyond to support our students to achieve their personal best academically, socially and behaviourally. She works in positive partnership with our parent and carer community and acts as a mentor to other teachers in the school and across our network of schools. Congratulations Mrs Tadros!

Education Week Open Day

Our school is celebrating NSW Public Education Week with an Open Day on Tuesday 4th August 2026 from 9:15am to 12:00pm. Our open day will include an assembly, classroom visits, a picnic morning tea and a special art show, showcasing talent from all students K-6.

Parents, carers and community members are welcome to join us in acknowledging our exceptional staff, celebrating the achievements of our students and recognising why we proudly choose public education, where every child is supported to reach their full potential.

Important Reminders

COLLECTING STUDENTS FROM SCHOOL

A reminder that if you have made arrangements for someone to collect your child/ren that is outside of your normal arrangements, please ensure that you have notified the office so we are aware and can let other staff members know in a timely manner.  This applies to leaving early and for the end of the day.

SAFETY

A reminder to all students and parents that entry to the School is via the Pedestrian gate on Chestnut Ave located near Block D. This is for everyone's safety. If you require disabled access there are two entry points into the school via the ramp into the school office and via the gate on the corner of Sturt and Manson Streets.

NOTES SENT HOME

On occasion important notes will be sent home. Please ensure you remember to check your child's bag each day.

CELEBRATIONS

Here at TPS we enjoy celebrating student’s birthdays. You are most welcome to bring in something to celebrate but we ask that individual store bought small bite size cupcakes or individually wrapped sweets are brought in to school as this makes it easier for the students to eat. A large cake makes it difficult to distribute to their classmates.

LOST PROPERTY

There are a number of items in the Lost Property box which do not have names on them. If your child is missing an item, please check this box which is located in the D Block breezeway.

CONTACT INFORMATION OR CIRCUMSTANCE CHANGE

Please ensure that your contact details are up to date. It is important that the School be able to contact you in case of your child being ill, a child not being collected from school or in case of emergency etc. If your family circumstances change, please also provide the school with any updated documentation.

You can notify the school of any changes or updates via written confirmation or complete the template form located in the office foyer.

MOBILE PHONES OR DEVICES

If you require your child to carry a mobile phone/device, you will be required to complete a permission note (please see the school office if you require this note). Student mobile phones/device are to be turned off and handed to the school office during school hours in the morning. Mobile phones/devices will be returned to the students at the end of each day.
