At LIS - Wellbeing Matters!

The Australian Student Wellbeing Framework supports schools to provide every student with the strongest foundation possible for them to reach their aspirations in learning and in life.

The vision of the Framework is that schools are learning communities that promote student wellbeing, safety and positive relationships so that students can reach their full potential.

The Framework is based on evidence that demonstrates the strong association between safety, wellbeing and learning.

Thank you to Ms Tukata, Ms Meauri and the Year 3/4 class for your Music assembly.

Friday Assemblies

Parents and Wantoks are welcome to join us for our weekly assemblies held each Friday in the basketball court, commencing at 8.10am. This week it was the Sports Awards assembly and next week it will be the Independence Day assembly.

Student Portfolios

Students have taken their portfolios home to share with their parents and carers. Prep students will bring their folios home early next term. These folios showcase various assessment tasks that students have completed this term. Please take time to read through these folios and discuss areas of achievement and what students are proud of, as well as identify possible areas for future growth and improvement.

Parent / Teacher Interviews - Please make a booking!

Parent Teacher interviews will be held next Monday and Tuesday afternoon, commencing at 3.10 for high school and 3.15 for primary school classes. Portfolios have been sent home today. It is important that parents book a time for their interviews. Please contact Mrs Exzil or drop into the office to make your booking if you have not yet booked your interview. Please remember to either return your child's folio next week or bring it with you to your interview. A reminder that Prep interviews will be held next term.

Wellbeing Matters!

On Friday afternoon, students participated in a range of activities as part of our focus on wellbeing. Through our Student Council, students had the opportunity to offer suggestions for the afternoon such as yoga, drawing and colouring, singing and dancing. From the Deputy Principal (STM)

We were privileged to have three guest speakers this week who took turns in presenting practical knowledge and skills on the topics: Interview Skills, how to write a simple but professional Job seeking Application Letter and a personal Curriculum Vitae (CV). All the presenters are experts this this field as they are responsible for and play a key role in the recruitment process of potential employees at Newmont. The session took a whole day as they presented the topics in the easy-to-understand terms with additional practical examples.

I would like to extend our sincere gratitude and appreciation to Ms. Karen Nanau – (Superintendent – People & Talent Acq, HR People Mobility & Onboarding), Mr. Robert Siperau (Recruitment Consultant/Dover Assessor HR) and Mr. Victor TremaniTeam Lead – Talent Acquisition HR) for accepting our invitation to talk to our WRP Trainees. Thank you all for taking some time off from your busy schedule and sharing your expertise on the very important and relevant topics on how to seek for a job,and how to keep a job with our young local Lihirian talents who are potential future employees of Newmont.  The trainees have acquired so much from the presentations as indicated in their reflections.

Students are continuing their studies at their own pace. All NDOE required documents have been submitted and eligible Gr. 10 students are doing revision and Mock exams in preparation for the National Gr. 10 Exams coming up in October.
