The Millsy Flyer

Tuesday 18th November Term 4 Week 6 2025

From the Principal

I would like to thank the entire Warners Bay community, students, families and staff, for the very warm welcome. In my short time here, visiting classrooms and chatting with students on the playground has shown me exactly why Warners Bay Public School is such a special place.

One of the first events I was fortunate to attend was the Warners Bay Community of Schools Killi Biin Biin Award Assembly. It was a fantastic occasion, where outstanding students from across our network were recognised for their efforts and achievements. The assembly was beautifully organised and had a wonderful sense of pride and celebration. I would like to publicly acknowledge and thank Mrs Janis Milgate for her exceptional planning and coordination, a significant task which she carried out seamlessly and always with a smile.

Finally, thank you to all the parents who have taken the time to stop for a chat over the past week. Your warmth and openness have made my transition into the school community a great one. I look forward to getting to know you all even more in the weeks ahead.

Library update – Thank you P&C

A massive thank you to our school community and our P&C for their incredibly generous donation of $12,824.32 towards updating our school library. With this support, we have been able to purchase new lounges, desks and a fantastic range of new books. These additions have created a more inviting and engaging space for all students from Kindergarten through to Year 6.

Our next P&C meeting will be held in the Library on Thursday 11 December at 6:00pm.

Canberra Excursion

At 6:30am Monday morning, our Year 5 and 6 students arrived bright and early, ready to take on our nation’s capital. This exciting excursion provides an opportunity for students to explore a range of iconic locations, including Parliament House, the Australian War Memorial and, of course, the much anticipated highlight Questacon.

Our staff, Mrs Bath, Mr Brown, Miss Keating and Mr Batchelor, are all looking forward to spending 4 days with this wonderful group of students and supporting them through such memorable learning experiences.

We will be posting updates and photos on our school Facebook page throughout the trip, so please keep an eye out and give them a like.

2026 Enrolments

As we move toward the end of the school year, we are beginning to plan class structures and staffing for 2026. If you know families who are considering enrolling at our school, please encourage them to contact the office for further information, we would love to welcome them to our community.

If your family will be moving or your child will not be returning next year, we kindly ask that you let us know as soon as possible. This information greatly supports us in planning and forming well balanced classes for the year ahead.

Moving from Audiri to School Bytes in 2026

From 2026, Audiri will no longer be used as a school communication platform. To streamline communication and make things easier for families, we will transition to using one parent app only, School Bytes.

For the next few weeks, we will continue to send messages through both Audiri and School Bytes to support families during the changeover period. We kindly ask all parents and carers to ensure you have downloaded the School Bytes Parent App and have push notifications enabled so you can stay up to date with important school information.

Thank you for your support as we work to simplify and strengthen our communication processes.

Social Media Age Restrictions

A reminder to families that as of December 10 most social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook require users to be at least 16 years old. These age limits are in place to help protect children’s privacy, safety and wellbeing online. We encourage parents and carers to talk regularly with their children about responsible online behaviour and to check privacy settings together. For more information, visit the eSafety Commissioner’s website: www.esafety.gov.au

Thank you everyone, have a great week ahead.

Library News

Annual Book Fair

Our annual scholastic book fair will be held in Week 7 of this term. From Monday 24th November until Thursday 27th November, students will have the opportunity to visit the fair each day and purchase from a large range of books and stationery items. I will share more information later this week.  If you would like to see what books are available to purchase this year, please click the link below.

Borrowing in 2025

Borrowing from the library has now ended for 2025. Students will continue to have their weekly library lessons until stocktake starts in Week 9, but all books now need to be returned to the library. Letters for overdue books will start to go home this week so please assist your child in finding their book(s). Letters are only sent home after I have checked to ensure the book is not already within the library as books that are not returned are the student’s responsibility.
