Student folios

Student folios will be sent home on Monday. These folios showcase a range of assessment tasks that your child/children have completed this term. Please find time to look through your child's folio with your child and identify some areas that your child is proud of and some where they could improve. We ask parents to bring their child's folio with them to their interview or have their child return them to school.

Holiday reading

Please encourage your child to maintain their reading over the holiday break. Primary students can access the online reading program 'Reading Eggs'. They can also do some Maths activities using the 'Mathletics' program. Please contact your child's teacher if you need your child's logon information.

Work Ready Program

The Batch 1 WRP trainees of 2025 have successfully completed their training program and will graduate today and receive their Work Ready Program Certificates. They are equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge and attitudes on how to apply for a job and maintain employment. The trainees have started applying for job vacancies this week, with the assistance of STM staff.

The Batch 2 2025 shortlisted candidates will have their interviews at STM today and tomorrow. Eligible candidates’ names have been published on notice boards and were also announced via Trupla FM. Successful candidates will commence their training in late April after completing all the necessary onboarding requirements.

We have had a good number of former Work Ready trainees offered jobs with the company as well as contractors. Statistics will be published in our quarterly report.

On Thursday this week, we were privileged to host the Director, PNG Training & People Projects with a Senior Technical Trainer as well as three apprentices who were former WRP students. They explained the apprentice training process and its requirements. The presentations also included a pathway for the WRP trainees applying to be in the program. We take this opportunity to thank Mr. Jonathan Gangadin and his team for coming and talking to our WRP trainees and staff at STM.

FODE

Our FODE program is also running concurrently and students are continuing at their own pace with assistance of the STM Staff.

Kind regards,

Mr. David Wengip
